International Dance Competition 101

  1. All dancers and participating groups must be University of Tennessee students, faculty, staff, or alumni.
  2. Groups must have at least one member from the country, region, or culture represented by the dance performance. If the group does not have any members from the country, region, or culture represented by the dance, groups must consult with someone from the country/culture/region they are representing.
  3. Dance performances must be five minutes or less.
  4. Groups will be required to attend a dress rehearsal for the International Dance Competition on 4/14/24 from 12pm-2pm. If groups cannot attend this rehearsal, they will be required to arrange their own reservation of the I-House Great Room to rehearse their performance.
  5. Groups will be required to complete initial performer registration form. The entire additional performer information form which includes uploading the song file in mp3 format must be submitted by April 8, 2024 at 5pm or the entry will be disqualified.
  6. Three guest judges will score each participating performance to determine the winners of the International Dance Competition. Groups will be judged on the following criteria: choreography and execution, passion/interaction with the audience, cultural expression, and costumes/visual. The winning performer(s) will be honored on a plaque in the International House.
  7. Groups will be required to agree to release any and all photos taken during rehearsal and/or International Dance Competition for future publicity use by the International House.
